Hello Main Street Parents!
You may find this hard to believe, but 20% of the school year has already passed!
As I noted last week, school attendance was up for the month of August. I’d really like to see it up for all months of this school year…, so thank you for your efforts in getting your child to school regularly.
On Friday, we held our second monthly PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) assembly, where we reward and encourage being respectful, being responsible, being honest and being caring (The Main Street Way). During the month of September, students were given raffle tickets for being respectful and responsible and Vitalia Buonsante was picked out of the raffle jar! She and a friend will get to visit a local establishment for a treat. A big thanks to all students who have been demonstrating the Main Street Way. During October, we’ll focus on being caring, and at the end of the month, another student will be rewarded for demonstrating this character trait.
The Drive For Schools is up and running, in fact I went to this link recently and purchased my tickets. The dollars generated by this fundraiser go 100% to Main Street School and I hope you’ll support our efforts by buying some tickets. Send the link to grandma in Florida and the cousins in Minnesota…you get the idea, send that link out! You may win the grand prize of $25,000, but even if you don’t, you are supporting students and learning, and that’s a big win in my book. The Friends of Main Street (FOMS) have a goal to raise $20,000, and if we do, we’ll celebrate with an exciting magic show for the students on November 8th. Ticket sales end on October 20th, and thank you for your support.
The school office has been contacting families that need to complete “Back to School” forms. If you have been contacted please complete the forms, and if you need any assistance please stop by the office at your earliest convenience.
Parent conferences are just over a week away. Monday, October 7th through Thursday, October 10 are shortened days in order that teachers can meet with you to report on your child’s progress. During conference week students leave at the following times:
TK/K 11:30 AM
1st/2nd/3rd 11:50 AM
4th/5th 12:00 noon
World Day of Bullying Prevention is coming on Monday, October 7th. We are encouraging our students and staff to wear blue to show support for this effort.
It has been reported that some parents are starting to leave their cars at the drop off line in the morning. Also, some drivers are parking in the no parking zones at pick up times. Please park in designated spaces only, thank you for your cooperation.
In an effort to get feedback from families about their experience here at Main Street Elementary I am sending you a link to a parent survey. I’m hoping you’ll find time to complete the survey and give us your feedback.

Puede que le resulte difícil de creer, ¡pero ya ha pasado el 20% del año escolar!
Como señalé la semana pasada, la asistencia a la escuela aumentó durante el mes de agosto. Realmente me gustaría verlo durante todos los meses de este año escolar..., así que gracias por sus esfuerzos para que su hijo asista a la escuela con regularidad.
El viernes celebramos nuestra segunda asamblea mensual PBIS (Intervención y Apoyo al Comportamiento Positivo), donde premiamos y alentamos a ser respetuosos, responsables, honestos y solidarios (The Main Street Way). Durante el mes de septiembre, los estudiantes recibieron boletos para la rifa por ser respetuosos y responsables y ¡Vitalia Buonsante fue elegida del frasco de la rifa! Ella y una amiga visitarán un establecimiento local para darse un capricho. Un gran agradecimiento a todos los estudiantes que han estado demostrando Main Street Way. Durante octubre, nos concentraremos en ser solidarios y, al final del mes, otro estudiante será recompensado por demostrar este rasgo de carácter.

La oficina de la escuela se ha estado comunicando con las familias que necesitan completar formularios de “Regreso a clases”. Si se han puesto en contacto con usted, complete los formularios y, si necesita ayuda, visite la oficina lo antes posible.
Faltan poco más de una semana para las conferencias de padres. Del lunes 7 de octubre al jueves 10 de octubre son días acortados para que los maestros puedan reunirse con usted para informar sobre el progreso de su hijo. Durante la semana de conferencias, los estudiantes salen en los siguientes horarios:

Día Mundial de la Prevención del Bullying llega el lunes 7 de octubre. Animamos a nuestros estudiantes y personal a vestirse de azul para mostrar su apoyo a este esfuerzo.
Se ha informado que algunos padres están empezando a dejar sus autos en la línea de entrega por la mañana. Además, algunos conductores se estacionan en las zonas de prohibido estacionar a la hora de recogida. Estacione solo en espacios designados, gracias por su cooperación.
