Main St Parent Newsletter 4/20/25

Hello Main Street Parents!

This week Earth Day is celebrated on Tuesday, April 22.  At Main Street we will be celebrating with a Waste Free Picnic on Friday, April 25th, between 10:20-10:40 AM.  At this time, all students will sit and eat together with their buddy classes.  Families are invited to join their students as well…we hope to see you here.

At morning drop off on Friday (8:15 AM), there will be a ‘Friendly Friday with Friends Of Main Street’ to provide a casual opportunity for our school community to connect with the FOMS board. Free coffee and donuts will be provided.  We will gather in the table area by the playground.

State (CAASPP) testing for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students resumes on April 21, and I am linking the schedule here.  Help your child to be better prepared for the CAASPP tests by visiting the practice tests.  

FOMS is organizing another community builder that is a reward for our students and families raising over $30,000 through the Heron Hustle. On Friday, May 2nd, 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Soquel High School we’ll have the ‘Blue Heron Bash - Let’s GLOW Crazy!’  In celebration of our community raising $30,000 for The Heron Hustle, we earned a glow stick family dance night! Dress in your finest neon and get ready to party alongside other Main Street families. Parent supervision is required - this is NOT a drop-off event. Entry is free & siblings are welcome to join the fun! Pizza and other snacks will be available for purchase.

The last Main Street Chess session for 1st and  2nd grade students started on 4/18/25 and goes until 5/23/25.  There are still some spots available.  The chess club meets from 12:15-1:15 PM on Fridays, in room 105.  If you want your student to be part of the club email cbroadhurst@suesd.org

As we move closer to the end of the year, I respectfully ask that families refrain from requesting a specific teacher for next year.  I do welcome input on your child's educational needs, and you can email that to me (cbroadhurst@suesd.org).  If your student will not be attending Main Street next year (and we think they are), could you please let the office know and also complete this form

Campus Kids Connection (CKC) after school enrollment for 2025/26 is open, and the link to register is  CKC Main Street 25/26  If you are interested in CKC providing morning care for your child, please fill out the before school care form on the same link. 

Thank you for using the drop off zone for that purpose in the mornings.  If you want to sit in your vehicle and enjoy time with your child, please park in the regular parking lot.  Thank you for your cooperation.  Please do not park in the drop off zone or leave your car unattended in the drop off zone.  Also, please do not drop off your child before 7:50 AM, as we do not have adult supervision until that time.  

A reminder that if your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option by here.  Students who access this receive attendance credit.

¡Hola padres de Main Street!

Esta semana el Día de la Tierra se celebra el martes 22 de abril. En Main Street lo celebraremos con un picnic libre de residuos el viernes 25 de abril, entre las 10:20 y las 10:40 a.m.  En este momento, todos los estudiantes se sentarán y comerán junto con sus compañeros de clase.  Las familias también están invitadas a unirse a sus estudiantes... esperamos verlos aquí.

Al dejarlo por la mañana el viernes (8:15 a. m.), habrá un 'Viernes amistoso con Friends Of Main Street' para brindar una oportunidad informal para que nuestra comunidad escolar se conecte con la junta de FOMS. Se proporcionará café y donas gratis.  Nos reuniremos en el mesa zona junto al parque infantil.

Las pruebas estatales (CAASPP) para estudiantes de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado se reanuda el 21 de abril y estoy vinculando el calendario. aquí.  Ayude a su hijo a estar mejor preparado para las pruebas CAASPP visitando el pruebas de practica.  

FOMS está organizando otro constructor comunitario que es una recompensa para nuestros estudiantes y familias que recaudaron más de $30,000 a través de Heron Hustle. Viernes 2 de mayo de 17.30 a 19.30 horas en Soquel High School tendremos el ‘Blue Heron Bash - Let's GLOW Crazy!’ Para celebrar que nuestra comunidad recaudó $30,000 para The Heron Hustle, ¡nos ganamos una noche de baile familiar con barras luminosas! Vístete con tu mejor neón y prepárate para festejar junto a otras familias de Main Street.. Se requiere supervisión de los padres; este NO es un evento de entrega. ¡La entrada es gratuita y los hermanos pueden unirse a la diversión! Se podrán comprar pizzas y otros bocadillos.

La última sesión de Main Street Chess para estudiantes de 1er y 2do grado comenzó el 18/04/25 y dura hasta el 23/05/25.  Aún quedan algunas plazas disponibles.  El club de ajedrez se reúne los viernes de 12:15 a 1:15 p. m., en el salón 105. Si desea que su alumno sea parte del club, envíe un correo electrónico croadhurst@suesd.org

A medida que nos acercamos al final del año, pido respetuosamente que las familias se abstengan de solicitar un maestro específico para el próximo año.  Agradezco cualquier comentario sobre las necesidades educativas de su hijo y puede enviármelo por correo electrónico (croadhurst@suesd.org).  Si su estudiante no asistirá a Main Street el próximo año (y creemos que sí lo hará), ¿podría informarle a la oficina y también completar este formulario? forma

La inscripción extraescolar de Campus Kids Connection (CKC) para 2025/26 está abierta y el enlace para registrarse es  CKC Calle Principal 25/26  Si está interesado en que CKC brinde cuidado matutino a su hijo, complete el formulario de cuidado antes de la escuela en el mismo enlace. 

Gracias por utilizar la zona de entrega para ese propósito en las mañanas.  Si desea sentarse en su vehículo y disfrutar del tiempo con su hijo, estacione en el estacionamiento habitual.  Gracias por su cooperación.  Por favor, no se estacione en la zona de entrega ni deje su automóvil desatendido en la zona de entrega.  Además, no deje a su hijo antes de las 7:50 a. m., ya que no contamos con supervisión de un adulto hasta esa hora. 

Recuerde que si su hijo necesita estar ausente, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo llamando aquí.  Los estudiantes que acceden a esto reciben crédito de asistencia.
