Hello Main Street Parents!
Clear your calendars on Friday, March 21, 2025, for the Main Street Jog-A-Thon, otherwise known as the ‘Heron Hustle’. This FOMS organized event takes place at Soquel High School, and I’m hoping we get lots of Main Street families to attend and cheer on our students as they work on their fitness and help to raise funds for our school!
Although state (CAASPP) testing doesn’t begin for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students until the end of March, I am linking the schedule here so that you are aware of when your student will be testing in either English Language Arts (ELA) or math. Science testing is only for 5th grade students. Typically students test in the morning, and I will share the completed schedule when it has been finalized.
I was speaking to a parent last week and they informed me that they had visited the practice test site with their child and that it was very helpful in helping to prepare their student for the testing. I strongly encourage you to take a look at the practice tests and give your 3rd, 4th or 5th grade student opportunities to better prepare for the CAASPP tests.
Earlier this week I attended a Measure P meeting and found out more about the great plans that are in store for our school. The next chance families will get to review the plans are at the board meeting on March 19th. This meeting starts at 6:30 PM and takes place at the District Offices on 620 Monterey Avenue, Capitola.
I’ve been made aware that some parents are loitering in the drop off zone with their students in the vehicle. The drop off zone is only for dropping off or picking up students. If you are arriving early with your student, please park in one of the parking spaces, not the drop off/pick up zone. Also, please refrain from driving into the staff parking area to drop off students. Your cooperation with these matters is greatly appreciated.
At our school wide assembly on 2/28 we acknowledged 167 students with 100% attendance from 1/31/25 to 2/28/25! Three randomly selected students received a gift card for a local business. We will be recognizing students with 100% attendance from 2/28/25 -3/28/25 at the school assembly on 3/28/25. A reminder that if your child needs to be absent you can access the short term independent study option by here. Students who access this receive attendance credit.
School will not be in session on Monday, March 17th

Aunque las pruebas estatales (CAASPP) no comienzan para los estudiantes de 3.º, 4.º y 5.º grado hasta finales de marzo, estoy vinculando el calendario. aquí para que usted sepa cuándo su estudiante tomará el examen en Artes del Lenguaje Inglés (ELA) o Matemáticas. Las pruebas de ciencias son solo para estudiantes de quinto grado. Por lo general, los estudiantes toman el examen por la mañana y compartiré el cronograma completo cuando esté finalizado.
Estuve hablando con un padre esta semana y me informaron que habían visitado el sitio del examen de práctica con su hijo y que fue muy útil para ayudar a preparar a su estudiante para el examen. A principios de esta semana asistí a una reunión de la Medida P y descubrí más sobre los grandes planes que tenemos reservados para nuestra escuela. La próxima oportunidad que tendrán las familias para revisar los planes será en la próxima reunión de la junta directiva el 19 de marzo. Esta reunión comienza a las 6:30 p. m. y se lleva a cabo en las oficinas del distrito en 620 Monterey Avenue, Capitola.
Me han informado que algunos padres están merodeando en la zona de entrega con sus estudiantes en el vehículo. La zona de entrega es solo para dejar o recoger estudiantes. Si llega temprano con su estudiante, estacione en uno de los espacios de estacionamiento, no en la zona de dejar/recoger. Además, abstenerse de conducir hasta el área de estacionamiento del personal para dejar a los estudiantes. Se agradece enormemente su cooperación con estos asuntos.
¡En nuestra asamblea escolar del 28/02 reconocimos a 167 estudiantes con 100% de asistencia del 31/01/25 al 28/02/25! Tres estudiantes seleccionados al azar recibieron una tarjeta de regalo para una empresa local. Reconoceremos a los estudiantes con 100% de asistencia del 28/02/25 al 28/03/25 en la asamblea escolar del 28/03/25. Recuerde que si su hijo necesita estar ausente, puede acceder a la opción de estudio independiente a corto plazo llamando aquí. Los estudiantes que acceden a esto reciben crédito de asistencia.
La escuela no estará en sesión el lunes 17 de marzo.
